The leaves are starting to change, sunsets are earlier and pumpkin spice lattes are in everyones cup. A reliable reminder to haul your fall clothing out of storage. At the start of each new season, I like to take my favorite items from my closet and find different ways to re-style them. However, it is always exciting to add a few new additions to your wardrobe. Here are 6 Fall Fashion Trends for this season that won’t break the bank. Plus, they will give your wardrobe a fashion forward look.

When dressing for fall, think saturated bold colors. Add sultry and rich colored hues that bring some vibrancy into your wardrobe.

Boyfriend Jeans

Baggie and loose fitted jeans boyfriend style jeans are in for fall. This brings a sigh of relief as there is nothing like a comfortable fitting pair of denim. Although with the new loose fit keep balance in mind. You’ll want to pair your jeans with mid length, shorter tops and jackets.

Statement Sweaters

As for sweaters, think about color and texture. Oversized sweaters are cozy and comfortable, and very on trend in deep rich fall colored hues. Your sweaters can be dressed up or down. The classic styles above can be worn with trousers or even leggings (these are a great comfortable pair). In addition, sweater vests are making a comeback. A knit vest will not only keep you warm, but it prevents bulkiness when the temperatures drop and you need to add extra layers.

Leather

Wearing leather in the fall is a trend that has been around for awhile and it is not going any where soon. A long leather midi skirt, a leather blazer, or top are all on trend. Vegan leather can be more budget friendly as it is less expensive than real leather. And you know how I feel about my faux leather leggings.

Slouchy Leather Bags

Soft feeling purses are a new look for fall bags but do not give up those functional cross-body bags with detachable purse straps. Also frame bags like this python print make a retro chic statement.

Lug Sole Boots + Shoes

Platform oxfords and loafers with a lug style sole that has thick indentations are back in. Shoes and boots with a rubber lug sole will provide good traction and footing. They are also comfortable because the rubber will cushion your foot. Not to mention this style shoe has a very energetic vibe.

It is time to start incorporating a wardrobe change as fall is just around the corner. As for myself, this season will not bring cooler temperatures to Florida. So, I will select accessories to highlight my fall outfits as I sip my pumpkin lattes.

Have you heard of the nap dress trend? Recently, on my trip back to the Chicago suburbs, my daughter Brittany encouraged me to give the Nap Dress a try. The nap dress by Hill House launched in 2016 and really gained popularity last summer. For example, you may have even seen them on Instagram. Intrigued, I was ready to give the style a try. Above all, I am impressed. Most importantly, what I love is that they create dresses and styles for a variety of ages and figure types. And, three generations of women wearing coordinating dresses? Shop The Nap Dress Style

I love the feminine feel of the dresses and prints. There are a wide variety of styles and prints available depending on preference and of course availability, as new styles sell out quickly! I encourage you to check their website often if you are looking for a particular size or color.

There are shorter lengths and options with sleeves too. I also like that the dress can by worn casually or dressed-up. Throw over a swimsuit if you have a summer soiree and pair with espadrilles. Or layer under a cardigan and tall suede boots as we transition into the upcoming fall season.

The style that I am wearing, the original “Ellie”, is cut for a generous fit. I took a size XS as the website said to size down.

The “tiny” Nap Dress

However, what really appealed to me is that they have options for little girls as well. What a wonderful option for your upcoming family photos or even just a special night out to dinner, like we chose here. My granddaughter was thrilled with the idea that the three of us could wear coordinating dresses. Emilea was so excited to head out to dinner in her matching dress with her mom (my daughter Brittany).

Hill House just recently updated their sizing for their “Tiny” Nap dress fit too. While the dress previously fit on the small side, they now fit true to size.

What I love about the dresses is that every few months they launch a new print or pattern. You’ll want to sign up for their e-mail list if you really want to be “in the know”. New prints tend to sell out rather quickly. Plus, if you sign up for emails you receive 20% off your first order!

Lily Silk Review

The word silk brings to mind the word luxurious. Luxury in a way that involves elegance. I recently received a box from Lily Silk and I am sharing my Lily Silk Review with you today.

Lily Silk Review

When I hear the word silk my mind immediately shifts over to the word, luxurious. Luxury in a way that involves elegance. That is what I thought of when my boxes arrived from Lily Silk.

Let’s first talk about this elegant charmeuse silk blouse I’m wearing. This is their basic concealed placket silk shirt. I’m wearing an extra small in French blue, however it comes in eleven beautiful colors. This blouse has just a hint of luster and I liked the hidden button style.

I instantly felt it would pair great with denim. In cooler weather, slip on a blazer or a sweater over your silk top. You will have a stylish yet minimalist outfit that can be worn during the day or evening. You can also style this shirt with dressy pants or skirts for more of a refined elegant look. Lily Silk blouses are also made of mulberry silk which give them a soft smooth appearance. But, it is also a great shirt to layer with.

As the weather starts to cool, and you opt for longer sleeves, you’ll find that there are numerous ways to tastefully style this timeless classic.

Silk Pillowcases

Lily Silk pillowcases are very lightweight and smooth, made with the finest grade of mulberry silk. This is what makes them feel very soft.

In the past, I read about the benefits of sleeping on silk pillowcases. Which include perks such as preventing wrinkles and hair breakage. However, I wasn’t sold. Several years ago, I tried sleeping on a silk pillowcase and my head kept slipping off the pillow!

I gave up a good night’s sleep and that left me disillusioned about using one. Although, after just one night of sleeping with a Lily Silk pillowcase my opinion has since changed. I am a side sleeper and every time I roll over, I feel as though it is a treat! Not to mention I was also doing something good for my skin and hair. Win-Win!

Paul Green Boot Review

It’s August 1st and I’m falling for fall fashion with my new boots. These Paul Green boots certainly caught my eye as they will easily become part of my fall wardrobe. I have been a fan of Paul Green shoes for years and I was so excited to have been recently gifted a pair that I wanted to tell you a little more about them.

You may think that living in Florida I do not need boots, however we do have a cool rainy season and that is when I want my feet to stay warm and dry.

I picked out these black patent Chelsea Boots as I was first attracted to their trendy style. They will certainly make a statement in every step you take.

They can be styled in many different ways. Here I chose to wear them with a pair of coated jeans, as the ankle style boot allows room to tuck in your pants. However, they will also look great with leggings, sweater dresses or midi skirts.

The leather has a crinkle finish. The sole is thick which makes them very comfortable. I ordered my regular size but if you are going to wear them with thicker socks, I do recommend going up at least a half size.

Paul Green Boots on Sale

Paul Green shoes are handmade in Austria using natural materials and the finest Italian leather. Although what I really need to share is that these boots are on fall preview at Nordstrom. You can save by purchasing them now. If your winter is cold and wet this is a good reliable boot to own.

I plan to wear these boots when I travel back and forth to Illinois throughout fall and winter. They are comfortable enough to withstand hours of wear and keep my feet cozy in cold weather. As for now, I’m wearing them just to look cool on a girls night out.

5 Lipstick Shades for Women Over 50

In honor of National Lipstick Day today, I wanted to share my 5 favorite lipstick shades that I am loving right now. I have a thing for lipstick, in fact, I never leave the house without a lip product in my purse, can you relate?

I often purchase a product to work with a look for a special event or occasion. However, it was recently that I decided to go through my products and edit out those that I no longer use very often. I wanted to make sure that I only retained what I really like and want to use on a day to day basis. Below I am sharing those products that made the cut.

5 Lipstick Shades That I Love

First Up, Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk a Matte lipstick in a pinkish nude color. It goes on smooth and the color is universally flattering and lasts.

I recently purchased this product from Sephora in a shade called “Hustla” which is a pretty rose neutral color.

For a statement look, I suggest Lancome’s Hydrating Lipstick in Impatiente. I like to wear a statement color in the summer when keeping my eye makeup more minimal and it really gives you that wow factor.

Another favorite Charlotte Tilbury shade that I like is this neutral color called Victoria.

Another favorite is this pink nude color from MAC in Cosmo. The color glides on and really gives you a smooth finish. And great news! It’s on sale today too!

Beauty Hack

Wearing darker shades of lipstick will make your lips appear thinner. I always use a liner not just to prevent bleeding, but to also give my lips a little more volume. I look for a liner that is a similar or slightly darker shade than my lipstick. You can use a brush to help blend the liner into your lips to create a fuller lip look.

This is my favorite brand to use, and I like the color spice. However, ever time that I went to sharpen my lip pencil, I was frustrated because I often found that had remnants of my eyeliner pencil left in the sharpener. And then, when I went to apply my lip liner, I would find brown or black on my lips! Has this ever happened to you? Well, I found a little hack to help ease my troubles. I have just recently learned to pop that little sharpener in the dishwasher to keep it nice and clean! I found that this really helps to remove any of the remaining color left in the sharpener. Cheers!

Lastly, I highly recommend using a lip primer to not only help keep your lips moisturized but to help your lip color last all day.

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale always receives a lot of attention because it is so different than any other sale we are used to. You have the opportunity to shop newly stocked items and beauty bundles at discounted pricing. It’s a great time to stock up on favorite brands and beauty products.

For example, I always purchase the Neulash Eyelast Serum Duo at the event. The two tubes will typically last me throughout the entire year {You can read my full review of the eyelash serum here }.

It’s also a great time to find new fall fashion favorites at a discounted price. My camel coat is definitely in heavy rotation in my closet, especially while traveling to the Chicago area. As are my go-to black faux leather leggings. If you don’t have them yet, now is the time to grab them! And I always love the boots that they have on sale!

This year, I added a guide for the kids too! My daughter + granddaughters and I love to head to Oakbrook Center to shop the sale each year. I am excited to be back this year so that we can continue the tradition. We purchased this cute little hoodie which is a great price point not to mention very comfortable too! And it washes very well. This year, I am eyeing these cute embellished boots because they make them in adult sizes too! And one year, I bought my grandchildren glow in the dark pajamas and they were a huge hit. I would suggest these too!

Barefoot Dreams on Sale

The selection of Barefoot Dreams on sale sure doesn’t disappoint. Their products are so well made and so very cozy. They also make great gifts too! Last year, I gave my daughter in law the wrap cardigan and I know she was a big fan! The large blanket/throw is also a fan favorite. It is so soft and luxurious and you will love wrapping yourself up in it all year long.

The Nordstrom Sale is also a great time to stock up on undergarments and shapewear. There are great deals on a few of my favorites, like Spanx . Lastly, while very basic, I definitely recommend this brand of socks, they are well made and worth it!
